Solution mining of Potash deposits is practiced around the world, including Canada, the USA and Germany. In order to contemplate solution mining, potash deposits must be stratabound, guided by 3D seismic, and have Potash rocks amenable to melting via hot water flows through the deposit. The subsurface chart shows a pair of vertical wells drilled down to a single Potash horizon and then a number of horizontal sections drilled between the pair of verticals to enable the constant flushing of water heated to circa 90 degrees Celsius down, across and then pumped to surface as a brine, for conversion to granular Muriate of Potash (MOP).
